Nightlife in Belize

Night time brings about a whole new set of opportunities to explore in Belize. Moonlit strolls and star-gazing on a tropical beach, night-diving in the luminous blue ocean, or sipping a beverage at a local bar are all options, though most tourists take advantage of the latter.

Nightlife in Belize tends to be laid back and lackluster compared to many other club scenes in the Caribbean. Though there are numerous facilities to visit throughout the country, there are few night time hang outs that stand out in a crowd.

San Pedro

Many of the bars and clubs in San Pedro are situated right along the beach, giving them the optimal tropical vacation feel. Big Daddy's is a bar and restaurant that gives off the feel of an oceanside campfire, right down to the delectable barbecue. Meanwhile, Fido's Restaurant and Bar is a great locale for night owls who are looking to relax under the thatch palapa, enjoy live music, great food, and nightly drink specials. If you're really looking to spend your night dancing away, stick to Jaguar's Temple, the city's premier night club.

Placencia

...after hours in Belize is when you can truly unwind.

Popular night haunts in Placencia are quite diverse, from a sports bar to a bar where one goes strictly for liquor, and even a beachy, open-air bar to boot. Tipsy Tuna Sports Bar is the place to go to sip a few cold ones while playing pool and watching the game, while those who are solely interested in knocking back a few brews (and harder liquor as well) frequent J-Byrd's Bar. On the other end of the spectrum, Barefoot Beach Bar at the Tipsy Tuna is super casual, with live music most nights and seats made up of beach chairs and towels in the sand.

Caye Caulker

In Caye Caulker, reggae is king, and relaxation is key. The four most prominent bars, I&I Reggae Bar, Herbal Tribe, Lazy Lizard, and Oceanside all offer laid back atmospheres and pump the reggae music nightly, though each bar has a quirk or two that makes them unique. I&I Reggae Bar offers swings and hammocks as seating, Herbal Tribe has a small art gallery, you can snorkel right up to the bar at Lazy Lizard, and Oceanside is where you go to dance.

Don't let the sun go down on your Belize vacation. Get dressed up and hit the town at least one night during your stay, whether it be to hang out at a sports bar or shake your booty at a night club. Whatever your pleasure, after hours in Belize is when you can truly unwind.
