Vacationers who want to visit as much of Belize as possible have found that airplanes provide the speediest, and often most convenient, way to travel. With more than six small, local airports and air strips, there are plenty of places you can go.
Although national airlines offer relatively low prices, you may want to note that fares are always higher when traveling into the International Airport. The prices for flying into the Municipal Airport and local airstrips are noticeably lower.
Your plane may make stops between your departure point and your final destination. Single and twin-engine island hoppers travel in pre-determined routes around the country, and a few even travel internationally to Guatemala.
You can fly between the cities of Belize City, Corozal, Dangriga, Placencia, Punta Gorda, and San Pedro. Meanwhile, flights also travel to Cayo, Ambergris Caye, and Caye Caulker.
While some flights run as low as $36(USD), others cost a bit more. But all are a relatively inexpensive and efficient way to travel around Belize. Flying also allows you to circumvent the highways, which are mostly in disrepair.
