When to Go to Belize

Belize heats up in the summer season, but the rest of the year is pleasantly warm

Hot Times

Belize offers travelers sunny, warm weather year round, with a minimum of rain in the northern portions even during the rainy season. Vacationers come year round to experience nature in Belize.

There are a few things to consider when deciding when to travel to Belize. Weather is certainly a concern, as are the crowds.

Weather can be a deciding factor for two reasons: heat and rain. During the"winter" months of June through November, temperatures are pleasant, but the country experiences quite a bit of rain. This rainy season also coincides with hurricane season, meaning that you might not want to visit Belize during this time. On the other hand, Belize's"summer" is drier, but much hotter.

Travelers who plan to spend much of their time exploring nature should plan for wet afternoons during the rainy season. Alternately, they should pack extra water for outdoor activities during the dry season.

The peak tourism season affects how crowded and how expensive your vacation will be. If you like to feel secluded or need to stick to a more modest budget, visiting Belize during the high season may not be the best idea.

Tourist season in Belize coincides with the dry season, but travel is most popular from December through February. Hurricane season is the least traveled time of year and peaks in September through November. Travelers visiting Belize during this time of year will likely receive the deepest discounts.

When you choose to travel to Belize is up to you. Learning about your options is the first step in making an informed decision.
