Orson Randall was born in the mythical city of K'un-Lun after his father 's airship crashed in the mythical city during one of its periodic materializations on the Earthly plane. He was adopted as a member of the city; trained by the Thunderer , educated by Yu-Ti , and eventually defeated Shou-Lao when he was seventeen to become the city's champion, the Immortal Iron Fist. When he matured, he left the city as many Iron Fists before him had. Together the heroes battled the Martians. The fighting in WWI affected Randall deeply, after the war ended he stayed in France , sometime before he began his addiction to drugs as a way to escape from the memories.

Does that put more pressure on you as a costume designer because fans have specific expectations? I mean, there is Daredevil, but even he does it subversively, and there were very practical reasons for him to come to that costume. Iron Fist evolved still to something that was akin to real-life clothing, the colors were very specific. I designed a track jacket with the colors that have become associated with the Iron Fist, and we paired that with a really awesome pair of slim cargo pants. We maintain the colors, the olives and the deep, deep golds that become associated with and that we carried over from the comics.
