When Flavor of Love first premiered in , no one would predict how monumental it would become for reality television. Even today, eleven years later, people still wonder about New York, Hoopz, Hottie, and the other rememberable cast members who all competed for the heart of rapper Flavor Flav. Originally, people thought it would be a failure. After all, why would 20 women fight over the something rapper? He wasn't exactly like the typical Ken dolls that graced The Bachelor. But in the end, the energy of competition forced some bizarre, almost obsessive behavior from the girls.

Over the course of 13 months during and , Tiffany Pollard was dumped on reality television dating shows three times. The second break-up, after she returned to the VH1 series to compete for his heart again, was rougher, and ended in a shouting match. Pollard flashed her thonged bottom, showing Flav just what he would be missing, before once again being whisked off in the backseat of a limo, crying and vowing to piss on his grave. The third breakup, during the reunion episode of her own spin-off series, was most dramatic of all. Security had to intervene to restrain Pollard from her new now-former beau.

Not a fan of The Bachelor? The show was created shortly after Brigitte Nielsen and the rapper split and their reality show, Strange Love , came to an end. During the season 3 reunion show, Flav called off the relationship with Tresha and revealed he wanted to marry Liz Trujillo , the mother of his seventh child, Karma. The show was such a success that it launched many spinoffs for the network — thanks to the incredible personalities of the women. I Love New York, which featured Pollard looking for love, aired for two seasons.



Flav was raised in the working-class town of Freeport, Long Island, where his father owned a small restaurant called the Soul Diner. At an early age, Flav demonstrated that he was an intelligent but troubled child. Music came easy to him, and he taught himself how to play piano, drums and guitar.
